Arun Verma - Recruitment Consultant
What’s your background?
I studied ergonomics at Loughborough University then, armed with my understanding of efficiency in the working environment, I set off for London to start my career in recruitment. I had a fantastic introduction to the industry and confident I had more to offer than I could provide through employment a friend and I set up our own recruitment company. This proved a steep learning curve, not least in never mixing business and friendship; our friendship took a number of knocks and ultimately we parted ways disbanding the company. I spent the next year in Barcelona reflecting on life, appreciating my surroundings and working out what I was really looking for. When I returned to my home town of Nottingham I was raring to get back in to recruitment and am now looking forward to what I can add to the AIM offering.
What does your day-to-day job involve?
The majority of my day is spent speaking with candidates and clients, building relationships and understanding what makes them tick. Knowing how my contacts think and work means when the time comes to match clients, companies and roles with candidates the background has already been done and the chances of getting it right match are high. My day-to-day mission however is to persuade Alan that I would work so much better if I didn’t have to wear a suit to the office – this is not going as well as my recruiting!
