Sanjay Sharma - Recruitment Consultant

What’s your background?

I’ve worked in recruitment for 16 years predominantly specialising in the Food Industry.  I’ve built a solid reputation as a doer

What does your day-to-day job involve?

My responsibility at AIM is managing the HR desk.  My main focus is building relationships with HR managers, both as clients and candidates.  Whilst, as for any recruiter, filling roles is what I’m paid to do I’m a real believer in partnerships; in order to develop partnerships its important to invest time with candidates and clients understanding their circumstances, what challenges they face, what their future goals are … I take it as compliment that I’m not perceived as a “salesman” but as being genuinely interested in what works for the people I work with.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

The satisfaction of hearing I’ve presented a client with right candidate – it’s great that they’re happy and can move forward with their plans but it’s also good to know my consultative approach works.

What are your interests outside of work?

Spending time with my family, trying new foods and walking my two dogs.

If a film were made about your life tomorrow who would you cast to play you as

If you were represented by a cartoon character which would it be?

Hong Kong Phooey for those who know me, they will know why!

Who is your all time sports hero?

Before he became a movie star it has to be Bruce Lee

What makes you smile?

My children and my two dogs – constantly.

What makes you cringe?

People who aren’t straight with you
