What’s your background?
I started out working in childcare with the intention of becoming a teacher, two years of uni later it was apparent it wasn’t for me. I worked with children as a nursery nurse and nanny up until having a child of my own then found my way into education recruitment. Another child and a stint at a cosmetic surgery company later and I am back in the unique world of recruitment looking to further my knowledge and experience.
What does your day-to-day job involve?
Anything asked of me, payroll, CV formatting, database cleansing, returning ski jackets that are the wrong shade of red for Alan …
What’s your favourite part of the job?
I love that every job is a process that I see through to the end, there are very few open-ended tasks. Ticking a completed job off my list is the most satisfying thing in the world!
What are your interests outside of work?
I am a fully-fledged soccer mom! Four lots of football training and two matches a week along a season ticket for Nottingham Forest leaves very little time for anything else. I manage to squeeze baking the odd cake and maybe a page or two of some trashy mind-numbing book into my day before I fall asleep on the sofa a minute or so into whatever we are watching.
If a film were made about your life tomorrow who would you cast to play you as
a young adult? Anna Kendrick for no other reason that I am a little bit in love with her.
your current age? Rebel Wilson – we have a little more in common on the waistline than Anna Kendrick and I do.
in old age? Dawn French – see above!
If you were represented by a cartoon character which would it be?
Sleepy from Snow White and the seven dwarfs; not only are we a similar height but sleeping is my greatest talent.
Who is your all time sports hero?
Peter Shilton, concerned about lack of shot stopping practice before the 1980 European Cup final at the Bernabeu, searched for some soft grass to do some diving on without getting injured. He ended up dodging traffic in the middle of a roundabout with two tracksuit tops acting as goalposts. I’m struggling to imagine Courtois or Neuer preparing in the same way…
What makes you smile?
My children, my friends, memes of cats attacking people, my husband on the rare occasions he says something that’s as funny as he thinks he is.
What makes you cringe?
Specifically? People who say pacifically.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
- Organised (my Mum would disagree)
What 3 words would others use to describe you?
What super power would you like to have?
To be able to read peoples minds. I think it would be a blessing and a curse to never have to second guess someone but to know what they really think, warts and all. Maybe I should go for flying instead?!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Fat people are harder to kidnap. Stay safe, eat cake!
Seeing as we’re recruiting food manufacturers – what’s your favourite food?
It changes more often than the weather. Today it’s an amazing roast with all the trimmings and really good gravy. However, I feel I must take this opportunity to stand my ground and say pineapple is the greatest pizza topping ever and anyone who says different is wrong!
